Saint Theresa’s Prayer

Children Daily Prayer to St. Thérèse

St. Thérèse, please draw me into your great life of love.

Teach me that no act is too small to fill with love.

Give me great respect for all others.

Remind me that everyone is a child of God especially loved by Him.

Draw me into the very respect of God Himself for us all.

Draw me into His big heartedness – widen the horizons of my mind and heart.

Then I may be able to think nothing, feel nothing, wish nothing, do nothing except what will build up someone else.

Help me to do this over and over again – to practice with you, being Love in the heart of Mother Church.

Amen.

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you

are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite

possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received,

and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones,

and allow your soul the freedom to sing,

dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

‘In spite of my littleness, I would like to enlighten souls as did the Prophets and the Doctors. I have the vocation of the Apostles. I would like to travel over the whole earth to preach your Name and to plant your glorious cross on infidel soil. But…one mission alone would not be sufficient for me, I would want to preach the Gospel on all the five continents simultaneously and even to the most remote isles. I would be a missionary, not for a few years only, but from the beginning of creation until the consummation of the ages.’ (The Story of a Soul : the Autobiography of St Thérèse of Lisieux)

Canadian Hearts and Hands is a family. All of us; missionaries, benefactors, friends and the people we serve are united together by the injunction to love one another as Christ has loved us. Our love is expressed not only in our compassion and generosity but also in the remembrance of each other’s need in prayer.

Whether as a community or as individuals, we unite together daily, especially in the Liturgy of the Eucharist to raise each other up to God. We invite you to send us your intentions so that together we can pray for and with you. For those who would like to remember a loved one, offer a particular petition or in thanksgiving; Mass is offered for the missionaries and friends of Canadian Hearts and Hands regularly and we invite you e-mail us the intentions you wish to pray for.

The Holy Bible

Praying with Scripture opens up new dimensions in our relationship with God. The Bible is filled with the prayers and examples of our ancestors in faith. The Psalms are especially helpful as an aid to prayer, since they cover all manner of human emotions; sorrow and joy, anger and repentance, despair and hope.

Daily Mass Readings

The Liturgy unites all believers at the table of the Lord. As a praying community, the Sacrifice of the Mass is our celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection. To learn more about the Mass please click on the followinglink.

The Liturgy of the Hours

The Liturgy of the Hours is the constant prayer of the Church. It sanctifies the day’s beginning, offers up praise in the evening and hallows the close of the day. It is an ancient tradition that sanctifies each moment for the service of the Lord.

The Rosary

The Rosary is a meditation on Christ, with the help of Mary. Mary is a model for all of us, especially for missionaries. She walks with us on our journey of faith, to strengthen us with her motherly compassion. She prays for us always, but especially in our time of need.

Basic Prayers

Included here are a list of some basic prayers as well as other devotions for the benefit of the faithful.

Novena to St. Thérèse

A novena is a series of prayers over nine consecutive days to prepare for a feast or in petition for a particular need. This reminds us of the Apostles, faithfully waiting in prayer for nine days before the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. St. Thérèse is not only patroness of missionaries but also the special patroness of Canadian Hearts and Hands. We imitate her example in life and ask for her intercession in Heaven.
